Billy Paul

Billy Paul ( born December 1, 1934 as Paul Williams in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American singer and successful representatives of the so-called Phillysound - a special expression of the Souls, who established himself in the early 1970s.

His most famous song is Me and Mrs. Jones, with whom he the # 1 in the U.S. pop charts was in December 1972 for three weeks. At the same time the song was the first number one for producers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff and their Philadelphia International Records label. He won a Grammy with this song in 1973 in the category " Best Male R & B Artist ." Another well-known song by him is Only the Strong Survive from the year 1975.
