Billy Powell

William Norris "Billy" Powell ( born June 3, 1952 in Corpus Christi, Texas; † January 28, 2009 in Orange Park, Florida ) was an American keyboard player.

Powell was known primarily as a musician of the rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, for which he worked as a roadie, but later a permanent member of the group was. According to the preliminary end of the group after the tragic plane crash in 1977, the Powell survived with severe facial injuries, he worked occasionally as a keyboard player for various other bands, but without much success. From 1987 until his death he was again keyboardist Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Powell died in January 2009 at the age of 56 of heart failure.
