Billy Sharp
William Louis "Billy" Sharp ( born February 5, 1986 in Sheffield ) is an English football player who is under contract with FC Southampton since 2012.
Playing career
Sheffield United (2004-2005)
After his debut for his hometown club Sheffield United in the Football League Championship 2004/ 05 on 13 November 2004 at the home game against Watford FC, Billy Sharp changed on 21 January 2005 on loan to the fourth division Rushden & Diamonds. By the end of the season he scored nine goals in sixteen league games.
Scunthorpe United (2005-2007)
On 16 August 2005 he signed a contract with Scunthorpe United. With his new club launched Billy Sharp ( 37 Spiele/23 goals) in the third-tier Football League One and finished the season in twelfth place in the standings. Much better it ran for the club in the 2006/07 season by winning the third league championship in front of Bristol City and Blackpool FC. Sheffield United (2007-2010)
Despite various other deals Sharp decided after the season for a return to Sheffield United. After a win over Preston North End Sheffield lost the final at Wembley against Burnley 0-1 and missed the promotion to the Premier League.
Doncaster Rovers (2009-2012)
After he was set at the beginning of the season on the transfer list, he changed on 1 September 2009 on loan to second division rivals Doncaster Rovers. In Doncaster found Sharp ( 33 Spiele/15 goals) back to its former strength and ended the Football League Championship 2009/10 in mid-table. On July 7, 2010, he signed a three -year contract with the Rovers and joined the club for 1.15 million pounds. With his new team, he achieved promotion to the Premier League thanks to the runner-up in the Football League Championship 2011 /12. At nineteen league matches, he was the third-best scorer in the second division.
On 31 August 2012, he signed for the 2012/13 season a contract on loan at Nottingham Forest.
