Billy Wedlock

William " Billy" John Wedlock ( born October 28, 1880 † January 25, 1965 ) was an English footballer.

Career

Wedlock played for Bristol City 1900/ 01 and 1905-1921, when he finished his career. Here he received from the supporters because of his stature, the nickname " Fatty" or " India Rubber Man", but he went through his technical skills his physical shortcomings betting. Wedlock was appointed 1907-1914 a total of 26 times in the England national team and had only in Charlie Roberts of Manchester United one competitor in the battle for his position.

Greatest successes were in 1906, the rise of his club to the First Division, at that time the highest league in the country, and reaching the FA Cup final in 1909 against Manchester United, but with a goal by Manchester United striker Alex Turnbull with a 0:1 - ended defeat.
