Bilopillia
Bilopillja (Ukrainian Білопілля; Russian Белополье / Belopolje ) is a city in Ukraine with almost 18,000 inhabitants.
Location
It is located in the northern Ukraine near the border with Russia and located 42 kilometers northwest of the Oblasthauptstadt Sumy. Bilopillja is the administrative headquarters of the Rajons Bilopillja.
History
The village was founded in the Middle Ages and was awarded in 1644 the Magdeburg Law. Bilopillja is the birthplace of Anton Semenovich Makarenko Russian pedagogue ( 1888-1939 ). Today the city is a great center of food production.
