Bimmen

Bimmen is a district of the city of Kleve, Kleve district and has about 170 inhabitants in an area of 209 hectares.

History

Bimmen was inhabited by archaeological findings in Roman times; by the immediate location of the village on the Rhine, the settlement but has partially shifted. 891/92 Bimmen is first mentioned as a possession of the monastery of Lorsch. 1242 for the first time a pastor in Bimmen was mentioned. The Martinus church, whose construction today essentially dates from the 15th and 16th centuries, consists in part of older tuff masonry. In the Middle Ages and the early modern period Bimmen belonged to the Official duffel.

Even today Bimmen is closely related to the neighboring Dutch Millingen.
