Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless

Brew (Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless) is a technology developed by Qualcomm application platform for smartphones. It supports all common cellular standards such as GSM / GPRS, UMTS and CDMA. Brew is mainly used for developing games and compete so directly with the Java ME platform.

Development

Brew applications are developed with the Brew SDK in C or C . The SDK includes the Brew emulator. or, since version 3.0 the Brew Simulator to test an application. Brew provides an API for the development of complete applications.

In contrast to the JavaME platform only certified applications can be started on a terminal. For this, the application by the developer must be digitally signed and completed the TRUE BREW Testing program.
