Binaural (English as: " bilaterally " ) is the sixth studio album by the American rock band Pearl Jam. The album was released in May 2000, the label Epic Records / Sony Music.

History

After the album Yield, the band had taken a short break. Binaural was recorded with Tchad Blake from September 1999 to January 2000 in Studio Litho, Seattle, Washington. It Eddie Vedder had to overcome writer's block. Guitarist Mike McCready had to undergo a rehabilitation program for drug problems. The band members worked individually on the first song material - only after a common work process took place. Vedder called the work on the album a "construction job", in German as a " construction contract ".

On 23 May 2000 began in Lisbon, the Binaural tour of the album. They initially led by Europe, then North America. From this tour, the band released 72 so-called "official bootlegs ". Also, a DVD was released with the title Touring Band 2000.

Reception

The album debuted at # 2 on the Billboard 200 and reached number 4 in the German charts. Binaural was the first album that did not reach platinum status. It has been certified by the RIAA with gold.
