Binnig and Rohrer Nanotechnology Center
The Nano Center from the east side
The Binnig and Rohrer Nanotechnology Center in Rüschlikon is a research center for nanotechnology company IBM.
It was named after the two nanotechnology pioneers and Nobel Laureates Gerd Binnig and Heinrich Rohrer, who in 1986 at the neighboring IBM Zurich Research Laboratory developed the scanning tunneling microscope. The Binnig and Rohrer Nanotechnology Center is dedicated to basic research in materials science and nanotechnology.
Noise -Free - Labs
Especially at the research facility, the new Noise -Free - Labs ( engl. Trouble-free laboratory ). They protect the experiments before sound waves, ground vibration, UV radiation, magnetic fields and temperature fluctuations, which would affect the results or even destroy. The experiments and associated equipment are located in protected areas, which the ISO - meet Standard 5 class 100, and be controlled remotely.
