Bino (singer)

Bino (actually Benedetto Arico; born April 24, 1953 in Palermo, † October 19, 2010 ) was an Italian pop singer.

Career

First Bino studied architecture in order to take over his father's company. But then he returned to Italy and came back in 1975 as a musician to Germany, first to Schopfheim in the Black Forest. In the nearby town of Bad Säckingen he became a member of the existing group "I Figli Di Yuma " with which he toured the region and through Switzerland. Then he came to Oldenburg, where he once worked as ice cream vendors, sometimes as a singer at festivals and on to Hamburg, where producer Rainer rocks from the label Pino Music became aware of him.

By 1976 Dorco German first composed and interpreted by Mike Mareen song Bino Mama Leone 1978 landed his biggest success. The song was recorded in an Italian with a text by Bino and in a German version. It was eight weeks number 1 in Austria, four weeks at No. 1 Swiss Charts. On November 23, 1978, both versions at the same time in the top 10 of the German charts ( positions 4 and 5). Mama Leone 20 million have been sold worldwide. In 1997 he dedicated his song of the late Catholic nun Mother Teresa. With the songs Bambino (ranked 18 in Germany ) and Maria (ranked 25 in Germany ), both also from the pen of Dorco German, he had two minor hits.

In the 1980s and 1990s Bino operating various pubs in Oldenburg or was involved. "Viva l' artista " was 1993-1998 his restaurant at the Donnerschweer street where often held music sessions. During this time, Bino operated for other musicians as a producer, including for the pop singer Luke Oliver.

Together with Dorco German produced Bino 2003 under the name " La Dolce Vita feat. Bino & Dorco " a single with the pieces Buona Sera and Muy Bien, which was laid over the German Austrophon. However, the single had no significant success despite good media coverage.

Bino was living with his girlfriend Katrin in Mallorca. He died at the age of 57 years in Palermo cancer.
