Binz (vehicles)

The Binz GmbH & Co. KG is a body corporate and manufacturers of special vehicles, it was founded in 1936 as Lorch Lorch Karosseriefabrik Binz & Co by Michael Binz.

History

From 1936 to 1945 Binz built mainly taxis, trucks and convertibles based as standard vehicles. Also first ambulances were already established. From the end of World War II until 1955, the company hired truck cabs ago. These were in contrast to the then conventional construction with a long bonnet, a completely flat front, as is customary for the first time today. These trucks were mainly made for Daimler -Benz, Krupp, Steyr and Gutbrod. During this time, first taxis with modified body, stretch limousines, roadster, station wagon based on the Mercedes -Benz W186 ( "Adenauer " ) and pick-up versions of the Mercedes -Benz W120 were produced. Later came an ambulance added based on the BMW 501. From 1954 Binz built scooter with 50 cc, from 1956 with 150 cc. In 1958 Binz their production, however, again.

In the 1960s, was based on the Mercedes -Benz W110 for the first time an ambulance with a 65 cm longer wheelbase offered. In subsequent years, the vehicle program was extended repeatedly. There were hearses, ambulances added for the military, and some patented equipment for emergency vehicles.

In 1991, an additional site was opened in Ilmenau. There, the company engaged in the manufacture of vehicle equipment with medical and environmental technology and equipment of vehicles for fire and disaster protection. The development of cars continues to take place mainly in Lorch.

Binz is also a supplier of medical and supply technology of the mobile Hospitale the Bundeswehr.

Stiftung Binz

In March 1987, the Foundation Binz by the then owners of the company and Mrs. Elisabeth Lehmann born Binz and CJ Ludwig Lehmann was founded. The aim of this foundation is to support the emergency services and emergency medicine in Germany. The Foundation's assets amounts to 250,000 euros.
