Binzen ( Alemannic: Binze ) is a municipality in the district of Lörrach in Baden- Württemberg. The town is the seat of the local government association Front Kander.

Geography

Geographical location

Binzen is located in the border triangle of Germany, Switzerland and France, to the southwest foothills of the Black Forest at the output of the Kander Valley in the Greater Basel -Weil Lörrach.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by Fischingen and Schallbach, to the east by Rümmingen, on the southeast by the county town of Lörrach, to the south by the town of Weil am Rhein and to the west by Eimeldingen.

History

The documentary first mention of the place as Binuzhaine dates from the year 767 Again it is mentioned as Pinuzheim in a document of the monastery of St. Gall in 807. The village was confiscated as alamannisches manor by the Franks, and came about 1200 years ago in the possession of the Frankish king monastery of St. Denis.
