Biology Letters

The Biology Letters are a scientific magazine, which deals with all areas of biology and is published by the Royal Society. Prior to the release of an item subject to the work submitted to the so-called peer review, this means that for each item, first a review by other experts before it is published. The journal Biology Letters was first established in 2005 after it was decided to extract it from the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society. It has since been run as a stand-alone magazine. The Chief Editor is the biologist Brian Charlesworth, who teaches evolutionary biology at the University of Edinburgh.

The journal had an impact factor as a measure of the average number of citations per published article, from 3,762 in 2011.
