Bion of Smyrna

Bion of Smyrna (Greek: Βίων ὁ Σμυρναῖος ) was a late Hellenistic poet who lived around the year 100 BC. He was supposedly born in Phlossa, near the Asia Minor city of Smyrna. His work was mainly for bucolic poetry, on the model of Theocritus. Very little has been preserved of it, so a 98 verses comprehensive Epitaph for Adonis, one written in hexameters lament for her lover of Aphrodite.
