Bird & Bird is an international law firm with over 1000 employees at 23 locations worldwide. In Germany, the firm is organized as a limited liability partnership under English law and has offices in Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich and Hamburg. In fiscal year 2010/11 while in Germany with 40 partners and 135 associates generated sales of about € 47.8 million was generated.

History

The law firm Bird & Bird was founded in 1846 by Frederick Wratislaw Bird and James Moore in Gray 's Inn under the name Bird & Moore. 1853, the firm moved its longtime headquarters at 5 Gray 's Inn Square, London, which was abandoned in 1941 due to massive destruction caused by an air raid.

After the death of Frederick Birds in 1884, his son William Barrott Montford Bird law firm and acquired clients from the mining and iron sector. He founded one of the first companies to produce electric light bulbs, its successor - now a household goods company - still is a client of the firm.

In 1905 the firm changed its name to the entry of Ernest Edward Bird, cousin of William Bird, for the first time as a Bird & Bird.

1943 Ernest Bird President of the Bar Association and left the office. 1950 William Bird died last family member in the firm.

In 1958, the firm merged with Richard Furber & Son Windsor & Brown and 1967 with tendrils Ford & Chester.

1991 years began an international expansion with the opening of an office in Brussels. The first German office opened in Dusseldorf, 2003 in Munich and 2005 in Frankfurt am Main, 2002. 2011 was followed by an office in Hamburg.

In 2008 it merged with the law firm Lane & Partners and the conversion to an LLP under English law, as well as the entrance into a community with Alban Tay Mahtani & de Silva LLP, a leading law firm in Singapore.

2011, there are 23 offices in 16 countries in Europe and Asia.
