Birgit Heinecke

Birgit Heinecke ( born April 10, 1957 in Magdeburg ) is a former German handball player.

She played for SC Magdeburg in the GDR Oberliga and was with the East German National Team 1978 World Champion. Two years later, her national team at the Olympic Games in 1980 winning the bronze medal. Overall, they played 57 internationals for East Germany. In 1979 she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

After her career she worked in education at SC Magdeburg. Later she worked at the Magdeburg newspaper voice of the people in the marketing department.

From 2004 to 2009 she was the marketing director at the Ostsee-Zeitung in Rostock.

Since 2009 she works at the Leipzig People's Daily.
