Birgit Michels

Birgit Michels ( born September 28, 1984 in Cologne, born Birgit Overzier ) is a German badminton player. She is a certified nanny, but currently in the army as a soldier sport active.

Career

Michels plays since the age of four badminton. At 11, she won the first time a German Championship in the U14 women's doubles, with 13, she was nominated for the DI squad. In 2005 she moved to Mülheim and trained there at the base of the German women's team. She qualified for the 2008 squad to the German Olympic participants together with Kristof Hopp in mixed and was also nominated for participation in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Here they lost in the first round against the set at position 3 Indonesians Flandy Limpele and Vita Marissa in two sets.

She plays in women's doubles and mixed doubles. In the early years of her career she was in the Mixed together with Kristof Hopp successful.
