Birgit Thumm

Birgit Thumm ( born July 3, 1980 in Heidenheim an der Brenz ) is a German former volleyball national team.

Career

Birgit Thumm began her career at the TSV Herbrechtingen. Finally via the TV Creglingen, the SSV Ulm 1846 and DJK Karbach she came to Bundesliga USC Münster. According to the vice-championship with USC in 2003, she moved to the Rote Raben Vilsbiburg. In the season 2007/ 08 Birgit Thumm played at second division Allianz Volley Stuttgart and achieved promotion to the first division. From 2008 to 2011 she played in the German Cup winner VfB Suhl 91. Since 2011 Birgit Thumm player coach at her old club SSV Ulm 1846, with whom she ascended south to the Third League in 2012.

In 1999, she already celebrated their debut in the senior national team and reached the same year at the European Championships in Italy in fourth place. In the less successful EM 2001, she was also in the DVV selection here. After the disappointing 2002 World Cup in their own country Thumm had to put in the beginning of 2003 due to a tear of the Achilles tendon, a longer break so that she could not take part in the European Championships in Turkey, where the team finished in third place. At the Olympic Games in Athens but the proven on several positions volleyball player was fit again. In the 2006 World Cup in Japan, there was only enough for eleventh place.
