Biri, Norway

Biri is a place in Norway with about 1,400 inhabitants ( as of 2009). It is located about 20 kilometers south of Lillehammer on the banks of Mjøsa and belongs to the municipality Gjøvik in Oppland. Previously Biri was itself an independent municipality.

The Church in Biri is a cross-shaped timber from 1777 and has 450 seats. 2007, the church was extensively renovated. In previous years, the church burned a few times.

To local companies there are, among other glassworks, as well as the oldest ski manufacturer Madshus the world. To the east of Biri there is right on the lake a racecourse.
