Birkach is a municipality in the south of Stuttgart, at the Filderebene near the castle of Hohenheim.

Districts / Coat of Arms

Birkach was incorporated on April 1, 1942 to Stuttgart and then run as a district. When dividing the city of Stuttgart in municipalities in 1956 Birkach was ( extended 1956/57 ) with the resulting since 1900 and designated by a field-names district Schoenberg to the municipality Birkach united, but which is managed with the neighboring municipality Plieningen in personal union. Both municipalities also have a common Bezirksrathaus in Plieningen.

In the reorganization of the Stuttgart city districts on January 1, 2001, the district Birkach was divided into the two districts Birkach - North and South - Birkach. With Schoenberg, the Municipality Birkach consists of three districts since then.

Traffic

The district Birkach is by bus lines 65 ( Uhlbach - ) in Stetten - Obertürkheim - Heumaden - Plieningen, 70 Hoffeld - Ruhbank - ( Schoenberg - ) Plieningen, 71 Degerloch - Asemwald - Schönberg, 74 Degerloch - Bern Hausen - Nürtingen and 76 Degerloch - Bernhausen joined the Stuttgart public transport.

Policy

The results of the municipal elections in the districts are decisive for the number of seats the parties in the district councils. The last local elections of 7 June 2009 yielded the shown in the graph on shares of votes and the following distribution of seats 9 of the District Advisory Board:
