Birte Siech

Birte Siech ( born March 19, 1967 in Berlin) is a former rower from the German Democratic Republic. 1988 she succeeded in foursomes with control women's Olympic victory.

Birte Siech from SC Berlin- Grunau was in the youth field still Skullerin, she finished 1981 at Spartakiade in the quadruple sculls in third place. Then they moved on to the belt boats and won at the Junior World Championship 1984 gold in two without coxswain. In 1987, she sat in the newly formed four with coxswain, which was composed of Berlin and Leipzig rowers. Birte Siech, Martina Walther, Gerlinde Doberschütz, Carola Hornig and tax Sylvia Müller won at the World Championships in Copenhagen in 1987 the silver medal behind the Romanian boat.
