Bischbrunn is located in the district of Main -Spessart in the Würzburg region in Lower Franconia ( Bavaria). In place of Esselbach that flow through the guard of Bach Hafenlohr springs.

Name

Etymology

The name Bischbrunn consists of the Middle High German words and Bishop Brunne. It means bishop source and goes on a zurückt Archbishop of Mainz. According to the description in the founding legend is probably so that the Kändelsbrunnen meant.

History

As part of the Archbishopric of Mainz Bischbrunn fell in the kingdom in 1803 to the newly formed Principality of Aschaffenburg, with which it became part of Bavaria in 1814. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

At the foot of the mountain Geyer, the highest level of the Spessart forest, pulled from ancient times the main route between Aschaffenburg and Marktheidenfeld.
