Bischofrod

Bischofrod is a municipality in the district of Hildburghausen in Thuringia. The municipality includes the town Keulrod. Bischofrod is managed by the Management Community Feldstein.

Location

Bischofrod located on the southern slope of the Thuringian Forest in the western environment of the federal highway 73 south of Suhl. The mountain village is affected by the country's roads in 2633 and 2634.

History

On March 30, 1262, the village was first mentioned in documents.

Bischofrod 1604-1618 was affected by witch hunts. Three women came in witch trials. A process output is unknown, a woman was burned. 1618 Ursula goats hammers have under hard torture " un-Christian and defiant shown " and filed a confession. She was released.

From 1815 to 1945 Bischofrod belonged to Prussia, administratively to the district Schleusingen.
