Bisection bandwidth

Taking bisection (English bisection ) refers to the division of a given network in two approximately equal parts, the number of sections through the connection lines should be minimal. The bisection bandwidth (English bisection bandwidth ) is the sum of data rates ( colloquially bandwidths) of the cut trunks. It provides a measure of the communication through the system that the wider the bisection bandwidth, the less the likelihood of blockages in the network in a general communication.

Example

Consider a network of nodes and links of the single data rate bits / s

  • In a ring topology, two sections are sufficient to notify the network, such that the bisection bandwidth is.
  • If each node of the network to every other connected (which corresponds to the topology of a complete graphene ), so there are a total of lines between all nodes. This is the aggregated bandwidth. For the bisection bandwidth only the lines between the halves can be counted - so that it is between the halves.
