The small town of Bishop is located at the northern end of the Owens Valley at the eastern flank of the Sierra Nevada in Inyo County, California.
Near the town is the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest - part of the Inyo National Forest - where grows with Methuselah, a long-lived pine, the oldest known tree in the world. The Laws - Railway Museum is situated in a disused railway station in 1883. A rustic focal point is the 100 year old post office in the city.
