Bishop Museum

The Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum (or the Museum of Natural and Cultural History of the State of Hawaii) was founded in 1889 by Charles Reed Bishop ( 1822-1915 ) in honor of his late wife, Princess Bernice Pauahi Paki ( 1831-1884 ), the last descendant of the royal Family of Kamehameha I. the museum was housed in the building that contained the collection of Hawaiian objects that had passed him the princess.

It is in the historical district of Kalihi Honolulu on the island of Oahu. In addition to the collections of Hawaiian pieces, the museum on the third largest insect collection in the country, which includes 13.5 million pieces.
