Geographical location

Bisingen is located on the northern edge of the Swabian Alb, at the foot of Albtrauf between the Hohenzollern and the dog back.

Community structure

The community Bisingen consists of the former municipalities and hamlets today Bisingen, Thanheim, Wessingen and rooms. The hamlet Bisingen includes the villages Bisingen and Steinhofen. The hamlet Thanheim heard the village Thanheim. The hamlet Wessingen include the village and the house Wessingen station Zollern. For the district of the village rooms include rooms and the Hohenzollern Castle. The districts Thanheim, Wessingen and rooms are places in the sense of the Baden-Württemberg municipal code with private Ortschaftsrat and mayor as its chairman.

In the municipality the disposed, now defunct villages are Mayrhofen ( district Bisingen ) and hamlet in the district of rooms. Hamlet was mentioned in 1328 as Wiler behind Zollern and came off in the 15th century. The place was probably branch of the parish of Zell.

History

Bisingen is one of the oldest settlements in the region. This is confirmed by numerous finds from the early Stone Age, the Bronze Age, the Iron Age and early La Tène period. The establishment of Bisingen and Wessingen is the Alemanni around 300 AD, the establishment of Steinhofen, Thanheim rooms and attributed the Franks around 500 AD. The first mention of Bisingen and Wessingen dates from the year 786: the Frankish Count Gerold gives goods from Pisingun ( Bisingen ) and Uassingun ( Wessingen ) to the monastery of St. Gall. In the knightly family of Walger, vassals of the Counts of Hohenzollern, Bisingen had its own local nobility with the castle Ror seat on a foothill of the dog 's back. Still today the ruins Schlößle to the gender of the Walger and its importance for the history of the village.

From 1944 to end of the war were in the concentration camp Bisingen total of 4163 prisoners, of which at least 1187 lost their lives during this period.

With an air attack by the U.S. Air Force ( USAAF) 24 people died, were the target located in the town center railway layouts such as more than 150 buildings were destroyed.

In the course of municipal reform in Baden- Württemberg, the two communities Wessingen and rooms were incorporated on March 1, 1972. The incorporation of Thanheim took place on 1 January 1974.

Community partnerships

Bisingen has a partnership with the Austrian Lenzing market town in the Salzkammergut. Since 1999, there are also friendly contacts with the community Semeljci in northeastern Croatia.

Spatial Planning

Bisingen belongs together with Burladingen, Haigerloch Rangendingen Grosselfingen and Jungingen as part of the Zoning and Planning Neckar-Alb region to the central region Hechingen. The town of Hechingen shall, in addition to the community, the function of a center. The location is shown in the Regional Plan as a small center with integration area Grosselfingen and Bisingen.

Structures

  • Hohenzollern Castle
  • Hohenzollern Hall: The Hohenzollern hall is located in the town center. There are two halls and the community library in it. In the rooms there are regular events. In the foyer, there are art exhibitions.
  • Roundabout town center: In the middle of the roundabout there is a fountain. From it result in images that are intended to represent a river course or similar to the street. Between the images are stone pillars and parts with plantings.

Museums

In the local museum Bisingen an exhibition and a history trail documenting the history of the concentration camp Bisingen that belonged with over 4000 inmates to one of the largest camps in the region. Nearly 1200 men, including many Jews died here of starvation, exhaustion, forced labor and abuse. There is also a memorial and Mahnkreuz with a sculpture by Ugge Bärtle west at the former site of the cemetery of the federal highway 27 In addition, recalls the former slate quarry in the " Kuhloch " a monument to the perished forced laborers.

Sports

Bisingen has several sports clubs. The football clubs FV Bisingen and FC48 Steinhofen play in the district league Zollern. There is also a shooting club, the gymnastics and sports club, the DLRG local group, a dog sports, a tennis court, a chess club and an archer.

Traffic

Bisingen is on the here -developed highway-like state road 27 This connects the town with Rottweil and Tübingen. From Bisingen the L 360 leads to Onstmettingen on the Swabian Alb. Bisingen is current regional rail stop on the Zollernalb web. The public transport is guaranteed by the integrated transport system Neckar -Alb -Donau ( NALDO ). Education

The community is the bearer of a school center with real, main and primary school; far this is the local library. In the district Wessingen is a Waldorf Kindergarten. In the core community, the Astrid Lindgren special school is located.

Water supply

The community Bisingen gets their drinking water from the water supply association Hohenzollern purpose and the purpose of Lake Constance Water Supply.
