Bismillah Khan Mohammadi

General Bismillah Khan Mohammadi, also briefly Bismillah Khan, is chief of staff of the Afghan National Army, a position he has held since 2002. On 26 June 2010, the Afghan President Hamid Karzai appointed him after the resignation of Mohammad Hanif Atmar Minister of the Interior.

Before the Soviet invasion was a member of the Parcham faction of the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan. Before the fall of the Taliban in 2001, Khan was deputy defense minister of the Northern Alliance, Ahmad Shah Massoud and only under Mohammed Fahim later. After Kabul was under control of the Northern Alliance, was used as the commander of the 2,000 -strong police troops in Kabul, he also became a member of the Kabul Security Commission. Bismillah Khan is an ethnic Tajik and comes from the Panjshir Valley.

After a lost vote of confidence in the Afghan parliament Bismillah Khan Mohammadi and Defense Minister Abdul Rahim Wardak told early August 2012, her resignation from ministerial office.
