Geography

Geographical location

Bissingen lies at the foot of the Swabian Alb, the smaller Ochsenwang on the Swabian Alb. The municipality covers an altitude of 384 m on the border with nabern to 830 m in Brucker Hölzle, which is also the highest point of the district of Esslingen.

History

As one of the first places in the district of Esslingen Bissingen is documented in the year 769, it appears in the written tradition of the Lorsch codex on. From the 11th to the middle of the 12th century belonged Bissingen the Zähringers, then the Dukes of Teck. In Württemberg the place came in 1326 with the acquisition of the Austrian half of the reign of Teck.
