Bitburger Open

The Bitburger Open is a high-level international badminton championship. They belong to the BWF Grand Prix and thus one of the seven most highly endowed European tournaments.

The Bitburger Open arisen from an international tournament of the 1st BC Bischmisheim. The tournament was the first time on 13 and 14 June 1987 as the " first International jubilee tournament " discharged. With the growing success of the club in Bischmisheim itself also increased the importance of the tournament. Back in 1988, BMW was won with a major sponsor for the tournament name. About BMW Badminton Tournament Badminton Cup and BMW changed the tournament name to BMW Open International. From 1990 to 1997, the competition was held as official DBV ranking with international participation. 1996 no tournament took place, as in Saarbrücken already the German Open championship.
