Bitterroot Range

The Bitterrootkette (English Bitterroot Range) is a 500 km long mountain range that runs along the border between the U.S. states of Idaho and Montana. The mountain is part of the Northern Rocky Mountains and was named after a Bitterwurzart (English: Lewizia rediviva: Bitterroot, scientific name) named. The peaks are on average 2,700 m high, the highest mountain is the Scott Peak with 3474 m. 6475 km ² by the U.S. Forest Service Of the 62,736 km ² area are managed.

The Bitterroot Range is not to be confused with the Bitterroot Mountains, which form a part of the mountain range.
