Bjarke Ingels

Bjarke Ingels ( born October 2, 1974 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish architect. Since 2006 he leads the architecture firm Bjarke Ingels Group, based in Copenhagen. In 2009 he co-founded the design agency KiBiSi. Ingels ' designs are characterized by very clear, often bold and pragmatic ideas connected with a playful approaches from.

Biography

Bjarke Ingels studied until its completion in 1998 architecture at the Royal Danish Kunstakademiets Arkitektskole in Copenhagen and at the Escola Tecnica Superior d' Arquitectura in Barcelona. From 1998 to 2001 he worked at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture for Rem Koolhaas in Rotterdam.

Bjarke Ingels founded in 2001 together with his former colleague Julien de Smedt Belgian the architecture firm PLOT in Copenhagen. The office excited with very innovative designs early international attention. On the Architecture Biennale in Venice in 2004, they received the Golden Lion for the design of a concert hall in Stavanger, Norway. 2005 PLOT won his first major competition with the VM Houses project. Despite the great success, the partners separated in 2006 and founded the offices Bjarke Ingels Group / BIG and JDS / JULIEN DE SMEDT ARCHITECTS.

Bjarke Ingels continued to follow the ideology of PLOT and realized some significant projects, including the housing 8- Taller in Ørestad and the new Danish National Museum of navigation in Elsinore.

As a " BIG" Ingels published in 2009 and the architecture Comic " Yes is more - to be archived comic on architectural evolution" for the exhibition of the same title in the Danish Architectural Centre in Copenhagen.
