Bjarni Guðjónsson

Bjarni Guðjónsson Eggert (born 26 February 1979 in Akranes ) is an Icelandic football player.

Club career

He began his career at ÍA Akranes in Iceland. In 1997 he joined for £ 500,000 to Newcastle United, but did not make it into the first team and moved a year later to KRC Genk in Belgium, where his brother Thordur played. In 2000 he moved back to England, where he played from then on for Stoke City. Stoke paid £ 250,000 transfer fee. In 2003 he moved free transfer to VfL Bochum, and played there again with his brother in a team. But for Bochum, he brought it on only four Bundesliga appearances and was loaned to Coventry City. He spent the following years, again in England at Plymouth Argyle, which took him a free transfer under contract. In 2006 he moved back to his hometown club ÍA Akranes. Since 2008 he plays for KR Reykjavík.

International career

He made his debut in 1997 in a friendly match against Slovakia for Iceland when he came on against Helgi Sigurðsson. He has played 20 international matches and scored one goal.
