Bjørn Alterhaug

Bjørn Haug age ( born June 3, 1945 in Mo i Rana ) is a Norwegian jazz double bassist, composer and teacher.

Age Haug studied from 1966 Music at the University of Trondheim. He accompanied soon jazz greats like Joe Henderson, Lee Konitz, Chet Baker, Dexter Gordon, Lucky Thompson and Ben Webster in her guest appearances in Norway and in 1975 awarded the Buddy pinches.

Since 1970 he is also active as a composer. Among his more than 150 compositions to find pieces for jazz big band, Norwegian folk music and contemporary chamber music. The 25th Festival of North Norway, he was the festival composer. He also works at the University of Trondheim as a music professor.

Age Haug released three albums as a leader: Moments (1979 ), A Ballad (1986) and Constellations ( Odin, 1991). For the moment he was in 1980 awarded the Spellemannprisen. As a sideman he worked, inter alia, with Asmund Bjørken, Thorgeir Stubø, Ivar Antonsen, gates Johansen, John Pål Indian Mountain, Hilde books, Hallgeir Pedersen, Warne Marsh, Bjørn Johansen, Egil Kapstad, Bodil Niska and Siri Svale.
