Black's Law Dictionary

Black's Law Dictionary ( Black's Law Dictionary ) is the governing law dictionary for the law of the United States. It has been cited in many cases by the Supreme Court as a legal authority. The latest edition, of which there are also abridgements and pocket expenditure, is a useful starting point in the face of unknown terms in the legal field for both laymen and students. In legal papers and court opinions, it is the preferred reference for definitions.

Black's Law Dictionary was founded by Henry Campbell Black. The first edition appeared in 1891, second edition 1910. The current ninth edition appeared in 2009.
