Black Canadians

As an African- Canadian (American -engl. African Canadian or Canadian Black ) refers to all residents of Canada who are at least partially black African descent. The majority of black Canadians are descendants of 19th century refugees from the U.S. slaves. Other members of this minority immigrated in the 20th century from the Caribbean and Africa into the country. In 2006, 2.5% of all Canadians were black ( 783 795 people). About 78 % of blacks live in the cities of Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver and Halifax.
