Black Consciousness Movement ( BCM short; German as " movement of the Black self-consciousness ") was a political movement of black South Africans.

History

In the 1960s there were several groups in South Africa who were in opposition to the prevailing system of apartheid. One of these groups was the Black Consciousness Movement. As its founder is considered the student leader Steve Biko. She was strongly influenced by the Black Power movement of the blacks in the United States.
