History

Founded as the Black Hills Corporation in 1941 through the merger of General Public Utilities, Inc. and Dakota Power Company, which supplied almost the entire western South Dakota with power. In 2007, Black Hills parts of the former Aquila Inc. and then expanded its coverage area in the states of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa from.
