Black Nazarene

The Feast of the Black Nazarene is a major religious festival in Manila, Philippines with a January 9 annual grand procession.

During the procession, a black statue of Jesus Christ (the Black Nazarene ) through the streets of Quiapo district is supported by the Church of Quiapos. Hundreds of thousands of barefoot creditors take part in the procession.

The image of the Black Nazarene was created by an unknown artist of the Aztecs in 1606 in Mexico and reached the first group of Augustinian with a Manila galleon, the Philippines, where it arrived on 31 May.

In the celebrations of 2011, there were hundreds injured.
