The Russian Black Terrier (Russian Русский чёрный терьер transcribed Russki Tschorny terjer ) is recognized by the FCI Russian breed (FCI Group 2, Section 1.4, Standard No. 327 ).

History of breed

In the 1940s, the Army kennel " Red Star" a dog for his own needs began to grow, according to a breeding program, the Soviet dog experts had designed. The breeding goal was a big, solid, robust and spirited working dog willing, versatile, who could very well fit the large climatic differences of the big country. It was from the beginning a systematic and mated a Giant Schnauzer dog with an Airedale Terrier dog, a Rottweiler dog with a giant bitch and again a Giant Schnauzer dog with an Airedale Terrier dog. It emerged four breeding lines. Overall, about 20 breeds were involved in the development of the Black Terriers. Inzestverpaarungen were avoided. So we soon had a dog that was very stable in character and temperament, but not in its appearance. At this time, but only character and temperament were in demand. The dogs guarded example limits and were used for property protection.

On 13 May 1981 the Black Terrier was recognized as the Russian breed of dog then junior. The recognition by the FCI learned the race at 22-23. MAY 1984 Mexico. On 24 January 2012, the breed was renamed in Russian Black Terrier Black Terrier.

Description

The Russian Terrier is a rough up to 78 cm large working dog. Females can be distinguished clearly from the bigger and stronger males. He is black with gray Stichelhaar, between hard, dense, slightly wavy haired, that is of course untrimmed 5 to 15 cm long. On the upper lip he has a rough, brush-like mustache, a beard on the lower jaw. The eyebrows are rough and shaggy. The ears are set high, hanging over the cartilages, small and triangular. The front edge fits close to the skull.

Russian Terriers are wary of strangers as a rule. You must not show any extreme irritability. You are balanced, but show a prompt and accurate defense reaction.

Use

Dogs of the breed were originally kept as a protection and guard dog, today they are mostly kept as family dog.
