Black Spot Program

Black dots represent in different countries road sections with a high number of traffic accidents.

Australia

In Australia there is a Black Spot Program. The inclusion of a section in the program, it must on a track within five years have been at least three victims. The track has to have an accident rate of 0.2 accidents per kilometer victims or the route must belong to ten percent of the most dangerous routes in the region.

Poland

In Poland, about 1,600 road sections are marked as czarny point.

On the large square black - yellow warning sign, the number of dead at this point due to traffic accidents ( zabitych ) and right below the number of injured ( rannych ) is indicated at the bottom left. The number refers to the three years before the formation of the shield.

For the establishment of such a shield has to be a fulfilled two conditions:

  • Five or more accidents in each of the last three years
  • Twelve or more accidents in three consecutive years.

On 7 September 1998, the first sign for a Czarny point on the main road 2 was erected at Błonie. In the same year, followed by 20 more signs.
