Black Triggerfish ( Melichthys niger)
The Black Triggerfish ( Melichthys niger) is a species of the family triggerfish ( Balistidae ).
The black triggerfish achieved grown a body length of up to forty centimeters. The body color is black at the base of the dorsal and anal fin runs a light blue thin strip. The forehead is somewhat lighter colored and shows a blue line pattern.
The black triggerfish lives zirkumtropisch in all tropical seas. The fish live from the shallow waters to a sea depth of 35 meters. Black Triggerfish hold on usually in the vicinity of reefs.
It eats algae, foraminifera, molluscs, crustaceans, worms, echinoderms, fish and their spawn.
