Black Tusk (band)

Black Tusk is an American sludge band from Savannah, Georgia.

History

The band formed in 2005 after the dissolution of Andrew Fidler (guitar, vocals) and Jonathan Athons (bass, vocals) and James Mays Crustcore band (drums, vocals) Street - Punk band. Andrew and Jonathan met James and the next few weeks they started jamming together and so work was the EP When Kingdoms case, which was released under the label signal Wrecked after a few months. Two years later, the band released their first album, The Fallen Kingdom, a year later, followed by passage through Purgatory. 2009 Black Tusk played some split albums with bands such as ASG, The Holy Mountain and Fight Amp, before they enrolled in November to Relapse Records.

Black Tusk is often associated with the bands Baroness and Kylesa in conjunction, because they all come from Savannah and can be associated with the sludge genre. In addition, Baroness ' John Dyer Baizley guitarist and singer takes over the design of the publications of Black Tusk. Black Tusk themselves describe their music as " Swamp Metal". Allmusic describes it as " darkest, dirtiest sludge from Savannah since Kylesa ". The term is an allusion to the climate in the area and the sound of their music. The band has admitted its roots in punk, but prefers to call any bands that have influenced them.
