Blackburne (motorcycles)

Blackburne was a British engine and motorcycle manufacturers.

History

The engineers Cecil and Alec Burney built in their company Burney Blackburne Ltd.. - Initially in Berkhamsted, later in Tongham, Surrey, and finally at Atlas Works, Bookham, Surrey - from 1908 to 1937 under the brand name Blackburne addition to complete motorcycles mainly built-in motors that were installed in countless English and other European motorcycle brands. Plans for a machine they bought from Geoffrey de Havilland. The end of 1921 the motorcycle to O.E.C. was submitted to Gosport, and the brothers Burney resigned from the Company. The engine was continued until 1937.

The Blackburne engines were used in the brands of AWD, Bücker, Chater - Lea, Calthorpe, Cotton, Coventry Eagle, Göricke, Imperia, Magnat Debon, Mammut, Motobécane, Nestoria, Terrot, Ziejanü and many others.

Motor

There were pages and top -driven A - and V- twin cylinder engines with capacities of 174, 196, 250, 300, 350, 500, 550, 600 and 1,000 cm ³, partly with external flywheel, manufactured and sold. For competition purposes is also produced successful special above -controlled racing engines with 174, 248, 348, 496 cc.
