Blaesheim

Blaesheim ( German Blaesheim ) is a municipality with 1279 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in Alsace region of France. The community is a member of the Communauté urbaine de Strasbourg since 1 January 2006. West of Blaesheim the highway ends 35; its continuation is the Territory road 1422.

French - German meeting

In 2001, the leaders of France and Germany, as well as their foreign ministers met in Blaesheim the first time for an informal conversation. As part of the hereinafter named " Blaesheim Process' since then discuss every six to eight weeks topical issues of European and international politics.

Precursor of Blaesheim process was on 19 July 1977, a meeting of Valéry Giscard d' Estaing and Helmut Schmidt, together with the Foreign Ministers at Hotel Au Boeuf Blaesheim.
