Blagoveshchensk, Republic of Bashkortostan
Blagoveshchensk (Russian Благовещенск, listen / i;? Bashkir Благовещен / Blagoveščen ) is a city in the Republic of Bashkortostan (Russia) with 34 239 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).
Geography
Blagoveshchensk is located in the southern Uralvorland, about 40 km north of the capital of Republic of Ufa on the Belaya, a left tributary of the Kama. The city is not to be confused with the eponymous capital of the Amur Oblast in the Russian Far East.
Blagoveshchensk is the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.
History
The village was founded in 1756 with the opening of the copper smelter Blagoveshchensky Sawod and received city rights in 1941.
