The Blaine County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nebraska. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is to Brewster, which was to George W. Brewster, founder of the town, named

The County is located just north of the geographical center of Nebraska and has an area of 1850 square kilometers, of which nine square miles are water. It is bordered by the following counties:

History

The Blaine County was designated in 1885 as a free - but in reality populated by Indians - formed territory. It was named after James G. Blaine (1830-1893), a U.S. Senator (1876-1881), U.S. Secretary of State (1881, 1889-1892 ) and a member of the Democratic-Republican Party United States Presidential candidate in 1884.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Blaine County 583 people in 238 households and 168 families. The population density was 0.3 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 99.0 percent white and 0.5 percent of Native Americans; 0.5 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.2 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race, were members of the various groups mentioned.

Of the 238 households out of which 30.3 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 66.0 percent were married couples living together, 2.5 percent were single mothers, 29.0 percent were non-families, 26.9 percent of all households and 13.9 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size is 2.98.

Based on the county the population was spread out 26.2 percent of residents under the age of 18, 3.9 percent between 18 and 24 years, 26.6 percent between 25 and 44 years, 26.4 percent between 45 and 64 years and 16.8 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 101.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were statistically 100.9 males.

The median income for a household was $ 25,278, and the median income for a family was $ 28,472. Males have a median income of $ 17,917, women $ 20,000. The per capita income was $ 12,323. 18.7 percent of families and 19.4 percent of the population lived below the poverty line. Of these, 21.7 percent were children or adolescents under age 18 and 9.4 percent of those 65 years.
