Blăjel

Blajel ( German retail blister village, såksesch Klin - Bluësendref, Hungarian Balázstelke ) is a municipality in the district of Sibiu in Transylvania, Romania.

Location

The place is located in a south-facing side of the Târnava Mica ( Small Kokel ) in Zwischenkokelgebiet, 3.5 km due east of Bazna ( Bazna ) and 5.5 km northwest of Medias away.

History

Retail blister village originated as humble community in the field of Kokelburger County 1339 first mentioned.

Population

The community was and is populous, with a majority of the Romanian population and shares of Hungarians, Roma and Transylvanian Saxons. After the revolution of 1989, most German -born residents emigrated. The population declined significantly since 1977.
