Blanca Ovelar

Blanca Ovelar ( born September 2, 1957 in Concepción ) is a Paraguayan politician ( Partido Colorado). Nicanor Duarte Frutos Among them was Minister of Education and Culture. 2008 she was a presidential candidate of their party.

In 1981, she worked as a primary school teacher. Later she studied in Asunción in 1991 and made her final as a psychologist at the Universidad Nacional de Asunción. From April 2002 to July 2007 she was Minister of Education and Culture of Paraguay. As a successor of her party colleagues Nicanor Duarte Frutos, she applied in April 2008 as President of Paraguay; in the elections they defeated Fernando Lugo.

Blanca Ovelar is married to Ramón Duarte Rodas and mother of three children.
