Blanchet (harpsichord makers)

François- Étienne Blanchet I ( * 1695 in Paris, † April 1761 ) was a harpsichord maker in Paris.

Biography

François- Étienne Blanchet is the most famous member of a family of instrument makers who coined the French harpsichord of the 18th century prevail. His father Nicholas Blanchet (* 1660) was a native of Reims to Paris and had started there with the construction of harpsichords and spinets. François- Étienne, who fully joined the family in 1722, it became the highest esteem. In his workshop in the Rue de la Verriere addition to new instruments and Flemish harpsichords of the Ruckers family were converted to contemporary tastes and expanded approach to a range of 5 octaves.

François Etienne Blanchet II (* ca 1750, † 1766 ) was the son of François- Étienne I and also harpsichord maker in Paris. Pascal Joseph Taskin married after his death, his widow.

The harpsichords Blanchet now serve as a template for historical replicas.
